PMD-waste

PMD-waste: throw it in the bag

Together we get added value from waste

As of October 2nd, we have started using special bags to collect plastic packaging, metal packaging and drink cartons (PMD waste) from low-rise houses. As of that date, the grey duo container can only be used for residual waste.

You have since received 24 PMD bags free of charge. In November, you will receive another 24 bags.

How to use PMD bags

  1. Put the PMD waste in the bag. Only use the transparent PMD bags provided by the municipality. Do not overfill the bag, otherwise it will tear.
  2. Tie the bag securely and keep it in a sheltered place in your home or shed.
  3. Keep track of the collection day. Go to www.venlo.nl/afvalkalender
  4. Place the bag outside along the street, next to your grey container, during the evening before after 22.00 hours or before 07.30 hours on the collection day. Do you have more than 1 bag? No problem! Tie them together. Is it windy? Then do not put light, half-full bags along the street.
  5. The waste is then collected once every 2 weeks on the same day as the grey container. PMD waste and residual waste are collected by different lorries. This is therefore not done at the same time.

Partition in your container

Although the partition in your container will remain in place for a while, you may deposit residual waste in both compartments.

Out of PMD bags?

Another 24 bags will be sent to your home in November. If you need more, you can collect additional bags at the municipal office (Stadskantoor), at thrift shop Het Goed Venlo or at the recycling centre. More information on where you can collect bags will follow at the end of 2023.

Waste collection in brief

We collect 4 different types of waste streams from your home:

  • PMD waste - once every 2 weeks
  • Residual waste - once every 2 weeks
  • Organic waste - once every 2 weeks
  • Waste paper - once a month

Waste as raw material

Waste can be a valuable raw material for new products. That is why we in the municipality of Venlo separate as many waste streams as possible and collect them separately. Not only PMD, but also organic (vegetable, fruit and garden waste), glass, textiles and paper. This way, we create less residual waste and actively contribute to recycling. In short, together we get added value from waste.
